Monday, 06th November, 2000

With all but the buffet car removed from the crash site rebuilding the East Coast Main Line began in earnest on Saturday night. On Sunday morning there were 10 Class 66 on various duties around the site. The Jarvis track renewal train had been drafted in from the West Coast Route Modernization to speed up the process. The following images document what is going on.
66081 Welwyn Garden City yard was host to 3 Class 66's 66081, 179, 041 and a forth not in shot on a southbound ballast train.
00000 The huge Baldwin's 1000 tonne crane stands idle at Hatfield station awaiting the arrival of the buffet car.
00000 Access to the site is very difficult, on both sides there is dense foliage in the shape of trees and rivers. In the lower view the Baldwin's crane can be seen above the tree line.

00000 In Hatfield Station car park lies a mangled roof of a me IV coach, probably from the Buffet car.
00000 As can be seen here the buffet car has been righted and the seating section of the coach has been enclosed in tarpaulin to allow inspection of the coach

00000 The TRT is a very impressive piece of kit. The bottom view shows the white `rails` between the individual wagons that allow the sleeper lift cranes to traverse the length of the train which was 17 Vehicles at the time.

00000 The actual site has yet to be touched, I suspect it will be some time before this happens because the Health and Safety inspection has not yet finished. Although it is difficult to see in this view most of the Overhead Line Equipment has been `removed`
